Okay, Last update of the month. My goal is to make $13,000 this year, plus the $7,000 I want to not spend from the budget, for a total of $20,000 in 2013. Because all the money goes into the same bank account, it’s sometimes easier to track it against the $20,000 instead of breaking it up into the smaller amounts.
As of tomorrow (wait for some news coming then) I will be at $9,000/$20,000. Which seems like I have made crazy progress considering only two months out of twelve have gone by, but actually I am just right on track.
For 1/3 of 2013 I will probably not being making any money (and possibly be spending more!), so that is going to slow me down a lot. And since I’m unsure how long I will be working for in the next school year, I need to be making most of this money early in the year.
Now progress will slow. I have $11,000 left to make, and 10 months left. I need to get $1,100/month through a combination of money I roll over from my budget and money I make. I believe it’s doable, but a lot depends on what happens over the summer.
I haven’t posted after the last few $1000s that I hit. Of that $9,000, $6,750 has rolled over to my savings marked for a downpayment. The rest has been doled out in $250 increments to do what I would like with.
Here’s what I’ve done so far:
- taxes
- taxes
- ipod
- conference
- travel fund
- technology fund (to eventually replace my faithful laptop and maybe one day get a smartphone)
- stuff from the city I’m living in (magnets, photographs, shirts, a school sweater, etc.)
- travel fund
- decorate apartment (haven’t spent this money yet, but if you remember in December I said I would do this and then never did)
Well, that is a pretty exciting goal! It will be cool to see WHEN you achieve your goal. Good luck!
