Another Update

Boy am I ever going to miss these updates go from weekly to monthly as my income slows.  I’m appreciating it while it lasts.  What I like about this new savings method of mine is that there is some incentive to spend less and save more because I can think of lots of things to do with $250.  And I have to save up $1,000 to get that $250.

There are other responsible-ish things that I want to do with $250, but I decided that since this months I’m bringing in a lot of money, I’m going to use one of the chunks of money for something that is purely a want.  At the very top of my list of wants for a long time has been a camera and an ipod.  I wish that this blog was so much more colourful, but I don’t have a camera to take any pictures.  And I wish that my long bus commute passed a little bit faster because I got to spend it listening to podcasts to pass the time.  Neither is necessary, but both would make me happy.

I decided to get an Ipod touch because it combines both costs in one, but mostly because it is both devices in one, which is less for me to commute back and forth each week.  This will take up the entire $250 plus another $30 that will come out of my entertainment budget for the month.  I’m excited to get it and figure out what it does, because I’ve never owned anything with a touchscreen a small thing with wifi or something that can have apps.  So I have a lot to learn.

It should be quiet for a little bit until the end of the month when I should have some more money to roll over as well.  This should be a pretty big month because I have a significant amount left over in my “textbook” category as well as the saved grocery and toiletry money from when my mom bought groceries.  It’s kind of crazy right now that I am “making” far more money right now from underspending on my budget than I am earning from my job.  But that just makes me more grateful that I worked so hard to save up the money in advance in the first place.
